Avant-Garde at the Forefront: Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Jungle Green

Armin Strom unveils a new version of its Gravity Equal Force timepiece that is powered by a genuine caliber and delights with an eye-catching architecture. It is distinguished by an off-centered sub-dial in vibrant “jungle green” and an open layout including three horizontal bridges, the micro-rotor, the barrel, and some gear train wheels set against the matte black PVD-coated movement plate. All of these elements are rhodium plated and make a nice contrast to the meticulously hand-guilloched sub-dial, a brainchild of Kari Voutilainen. The famous Finnish independent watchmaker chose a filigree grain d’orge or barley pattern that enhances the radiance of the green hue. It is also notable that the hands are designed and manufactured at Armin Strom’s workshop, a feat that not many brands can pride themselves with.

While the dial is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and avantgarde design the inner workings testify to the Swiss independent brand’s technical prowess. The mechanical powerhouse within is Armin Strom’s own automatic Caliber ASB19. Introduced in 2019, it features a constant-force transmission with consistent power delivery and amasses a power reserve of 72 hours. The movement includes a “stop work” mechanism that prevents the mainspring from fully unwinding, thus leveraging only the part of the mainspring’s unwinding process that can deliver power most consistently. As is de rigueur for Armin Strom, it is assembled twice to guarantee optimal performance and stability.

The Gravity Equal Force Jungle Green by Armin Strom retails for $22,900.
