Tough, Tougher, Mission Timer: Sinn Spezialuhren Launches EZM 13.1

Share

On duty for 25 years, literally around the clock: Sinn Spezialuhren looks back on 25 years of mission timekeeping in 2022. Originally developed for special units of the German Federal Police and Customs, these mission timekeepers have meanwhile been produced for many other professionals, such as emergency medical personnel, rescue workers, pilots, divers, and firefighters.

Designed as robust instruments with outstanding readability and function in mind, they also serve as picture-perfect tool watches for enthusiasts who appreciate bold design, resilience, and clever technologies. The latest member of the squad is the EZM 13.1, a diving chronograph featuring a 60-minutes stop counter versus the common 30 minutes. The large subdial for the elapsed minutes is displayed prominently at 6 o’clock.

The EZM 13.1 is driven by Sinn’s self-winding chronograph movement SZ202, a modification based on ETA Valjoux 7750. In typical mission timer manner, the stainless-steel timepiece boasts some of the German brand’s innovative technologies, such as improved magnetic field protection (up to 80,000 A/m) and temperature resistance (–45 °C up to +80°C) as well as AR-Dehumidifying to avoid fogging. Tested in accordance with the European diving equipment standards, the EZM 13.1 is pressure resistant up to 50 bar and features a diver’s bezel with minute ratcheting. Measuring 41 mm in diameter, it is equipped with a metal bracelet and has a price tag of $3,270. Sinn also offers a variant with silicone strap, which retails for $3,140.
