In terms of color, the year 2022 has been a good one so far. We have already seen a plethora of cool colorways in entirely new watch models and in variations of existing ones. Czapek & Cie. also refreshens one of their classics, the Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph, with two new color options, one with a purple dial, the other one with a blue watch face.
As its name suggests, the signature guilloche pattern of the aptly nicknamed Purple Panda called “Résonance” shines in an intense purple hue. Its intersecting circular lines, applied by a rose-engine lathe, form a pattern of bas-relief squares that make for a magnificent backdrop for the two chronograph counters and the subsidiary seconds with date indication at 6 o’clock.
The California Blue execution offers a more decent variation of the beloved dial that is distinguished by a mix of Roman and Arabic numerals. Here, the finely grained surface comes in a deep blue hue.
Both timepieces are powered by Czapek’s SXH3 automatic caliber, made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier in a bespoke execution. Oscillating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, this integrated column-wheel chronograph with vertical clutch has earned a C.O.S.C. chronometer certificate and amasses a power reserve of 65 hours. Its immaculate finishing and decorations, such as sandblasting and snailed finish, can be admired through the exhibition case back.
Limited to 18 pieces each and delivered on a leather strap, both of Czapek’s stainless-steel Faubourg de Cracovie chronographs retail for $32,800.
