Czapek introduces two new colorways to its Antarctique Passage de Drake collection. Both the Passage de Drake Salmon and Glacier Blue dials feature the brand’s “Stairway to Eternity” pattern. This filigree trapezoid motif which is stamped onto the watch faces’ surfaces serves as a beautiful backdrop for the luminescent Lance-shaped hands and hour indices. While the salmon color is created by a galvanic treatment, the Glacier Blue comes to life through physical vapor deposition. The date indication at 6 o’clock is color-coordinated.
Both timepieces are housed in a 40.5 mm x 10.6 mm stainless-steel case which is water-resistant to 120 meters and sports a finely polished and brushed integrated metal bracelet that was introduced in December 2021. They are powered by Czapek’s first in-house movement, the SXH5 automatic caliber.
To allow an unobstructed view into the meticulously finished movement, the microrotor, made of fully recycled platinum 950, is placed off-center. Connoisseurs spot a gear train that is held in place by a series of seven skeletonized bridges, whose shape draws inspiration from ancient pocket watches, and a lever escapement with a free-sprung balance featuring four gold inertia blocks for precise adjustments.
Both new Czapek Antarctique Passage de Drake Collection watches retail for $22,000. While the salmon-dial execution is limited to 99 pieces, the Glacier Blue version is unlimited.
